Download | Duration: 00:45:48

On our first character analysis episode we discuss the crazy French woman, Danielle Rousseau.  Is she lying? Is she telling the truth? Will she be back from the dead? We put our brains together and try to sort it out. We also review our first batch of great listener feedback.

Guys your opening music montage is has blown out audio levels and is heavily distorted. Please fix it or scrap it. It puts a very bad face on an otherwise okay show.

Listening farther into the podcast I noticed that the Rouseau music montage had blown out levels as well. If I may add a suggestion based on my own editing experience, Whenever you import a piece of music from cd or download, you should lower the levels when bringing it into a new project. Music is generally engineered to be as loud as possible without blowing out, hovering just under 0db. And if other audio like sound bytes are added the accumulative effect is to raise the levels above 0db causing blown levels. To thwart this problem I always drop music levels -6db when adding it to a new project. This is plenty loud enough for most talk show mixes and gives the required head room to add other audio clips when needed. You should take care that your sound bytes also do not exceed -6db.

    Best of Luck

Thanks for the feedback. I've checked the original file and the mp3 file but I couldn't quite hear what you were describing.  On the next episode I will pull back the mastering compression and db level overall and see if that remedies the problem.

Thanks again for the constructive comments and keep listening.

Awesome podcast guys! Really great detailed analysis of Rousseau´s story. Your best point was the comparison Naomi/Rousseau. I had never thought of that, and now I realize she never looked liked a scientist in the first place. I totally agree with you guys. If she was part of a scientific expedition, she was not one of the scientists. But I disagree with you on a specific point. For several reasons, Danielle doesn´t seem to be a Dharma type...all the people from Dharma were nerdy, geeky or cheerful hippie types, acting like they were sooo into the whole saving the world effort. And, yes, they were scientists and she wasn´t, but still...doesn´t seem like the type of thing Danielle would be into. I DO believe that her arrival to the island was no accident, but perhaps she came with another group....not Dharma related??? Perhaps something very similar to what happened to our friendly freighter crew....a small group of scientists led by a gal with military training.......and with a hidden agenda...History does tend to repeat itself...Sorry guys. I just don´t see Danielle Rousseau in the Dharma jumpsuit. I could be wrong! Loooove the podcast. Your faithful listener, Clem.

Great podcast guys. Keeping me going through these loooonng barreen lostless days. Keep up the good work! One question for you - where does that music at the start of the casts come from? The haunting dum...de....dum.., before the drums kick in. I love it.

All best from the UK, J.

Hey Jiminez, thanks for the words of encouragement. I believe that the song Clay uses at the start of our podcasts are from his band days and it is a song that he wrote with them. I'll let him confirm or deny that to ya.
